There is no upside to being the only London borough without a cinema and whilst plans are brewing to rectify that in Bellingham and New Cross, voluntary community group Catford Film wants to bring a free film festival to Catford.
Catford Film has set up a Spacehive page to crowdfund their ambitious plans and your donations are much needed and appreciated. The money raised will will pay for the licences and promotional literature required to provide a unique and exciting year for film in Catford.
The free film festival will take part over several days with an opening and closing gala screening. It’s intended that films will be hosted at open spaces, bars and restaurants.
This is what the Catford Film say about the proposed event:
There are many exciting opportunities to screen cult films, independent shorts, and blockbuster favourites to our diverse community, and celebrate our differences through a common interest in film.
Let’s help create a perception that Catford is an area of film initiatives. Let’s take the best of film projects from other areas, and make them happen here where we live. Let’s see roof top cinema on the multi-storey car park, screenings under railway arches, on the Broadway, under the Cat, pubs, parks, immersive interactive events etc. The opportunities are endless, and exciting. We have thought through the logistics, now let’s make it happen.
Sounds exciting and worthy of a few quid. Get amongst it!
