Catford Broadway-pedestrianised.

Catford Broadway has officially become a ‘pedestrian zone’, a move designed to make it a more appealing place to shop, meet and socialise.

This change means that any vehicles using the street as a shortcut between Rushey Green and Catford Road will receive a penalty charge notice.

The only vehicles now permitted to enter the pedestrian zone – which also covers the short section of Brookdale Road between Catford Broadway and the entrance to Catford Shopping Centre – are those delivering goods to premises or those accessing private parking areas. As no parking is allowed within the zone, any parked or waiting vehicles that are not being loaded/unloaded will also receive a penalty charge notice.

Authorised vehicles entering the zone should use the left-hand side of the one-way street (alongside the Town Hall) as their primary route, and travel slowly and with due care.

Cyclists are still permitted to cycle through the pedestrian zone, although they should observe all existing highways restrictions including one-way travel along Catford Broadway.

For more information on the changes to Catford Broadway/Brookdale Road pedestrian zone please go see attached leaflet or visit Lewisham Council’s site.

Great news. I’m wondering when it starts as there were plenty of cars parked there today and the street furniture was all fenced off…
I love the trees!
