Hundreds of tenants are set to join trade unions and councillors on February 15 in a mass lobby of Parliament.

It is being held to demand that MPs amend the Localism Bill and reforms to housing benefit.

The lobby is expected to include council tenants, housing association and private tenants to defend secure tenancies, rent levels and housing benefit – all of which face radical reforms under Government plans.

The campaign is calling for a cap on rents and investment in new council and other homes for rent.

The lobby programme includes support from the TUC and film-maker Ken Loach.

Speakers include MPs Clive Betts, Caroline Lucas and Frank Dobson; Islington Council leader Catherine West; unions and tenants, with workshops by Crisis, Housing Law Practitioners and Haldane Society, Leeds Tenants Federation, PCS union and Defend Council Housing.

The lobby is planned to take place from 12-4pm, Central Hall, Westminster.
